Welcome to Waterside Nursery, specialists in pond plants and moisture loving perennials. We are a family run company based in Sharnford, Leicestershire since 1995. As our nursery is only open to the public by appointment we take our extensive range of plants out to gardening events throughout the year.

We are attending 3 Royal Horticultural Society Garden Events this year - Malvern, NEC and Tatton Park where we will be exhibiting in the Floral Marquee. At our first attempt in May 2005 we obtained a Silver Gilt Medal for our pond display at Malvern Show. In 2006 we obtained 3 Silver Gilt Medals from the RHS. In 2007 we enlarged our display to a 15ft square at NEC and Tatton Park and were again pleased to receive 2 Silver Gilt Medals for a stand that certainly caught the imagination of the public as we combined a huge pond scape with a decking area to illustrate container features (patio ponds) showing small water plants including miniature waterlilies or larger feature specimens. We enjoy creating the Marquee displays and are also going to Harrogate Spring Show, The Royal Show and Shrewsbury Flower Show with a 15'x8' pond scape in 2008.

 

Our nursery is only open to the public by appointment so that we know we will be here when you call but then you can have as much attention as you wish.

We can provide planting plans to suit your personal requirements and then make up whatever size baskets to suit you:

We supply special orders for Golf clubs, Fishing lakes and schools.

  • A selection of grasses chosen to suit a wet area on a Golf Course with seasonal interest and contrasting shapes and textures.
  • Large multihead baskets of waterlilies for impact on Golf club lakes
  • Erosion prevention planting selection for Fishing Lakes and streams.
  • Flowering schemes for year-long interest on lake margins of Golf Clubs.
  • Surface cover plant selections for coverage over fish spawning areas.
  • School ponds planted to encourage children's interest in their environment

We work with landscapers:

  • Advice on suitability of specialist plants for landscaper's projects – both pond and bog garden areas.
  • Supply of specially prepared planted baskets to finish off designer's hard landscaping

To students of the National Diploma of Horticulture (Broomfield College, Derby)

For Royal Horticultural Society - Leisure Gardenening Courses

  • Courses at either Brooksby Melton College or Pershore College covering a wide range of topics under the headings 'Water in the garden' and 'A year in the life of a pond'

    We undertake talks between the months of September and April to allow for our committment to Events in the other months of the year.

    We have undertaken talks for College students, RHS Members, Hardy Plant Society groups, Cottage Garden Society groups, Local Government Environmental groups and Koi Clubs as well as nearly 100 individual Garden Clubs - many of them asking us back for more than one occaision.

    We have all our own equiptment for showing slides but would use your tables to show any plants we bring for sale. Special orders can be brought to a talk if members of the Group choose from the catalogue online and then contact us direct they can save the postage and packing costs of mail order.
