BBC filming at the Nursery

Chelsea Flower Show 2017 is nearly here! We believe we are still the only Aquatic plant exhibit in the Grand Pavilion after 7 years.

Our preparations have been very different this year as we are in our new Nursery and the new tunnels are keeping the plants warmer than in previous years. We have moved plants out to the shade tunnel and had the tunnel doors open earlier than usual.

Some varieties of Iris have already flowered but we kept some of each variety outside for part of the Winter and these are now showing signs of budding so the ‘backup’ plants will be going to the Show this year. You can never have too many backup plans when preparing plants for Chelsea!

The waterlilies are loving the new warmth so are budding and flowering really well – we have designed a new planting layout that should show these off to their best this year!

The BBC came to film us recently for a spot on the TV coverage during Show Week so that was exciting for us. We enjoyed showing the camera team around the new Nursery and explaining about the different depths of water we keep all the plants in so that we replicate the different shelf depths in your ponds. They loved all the wildlife we have already got on the new site and shot film of our newts and our damselflies.

We leave to start to set up the exhibit for Chelsea Flower Show on Wednesday 17th May so any website orders placed after Monday 15th will not be sent until our return. We will begin to despatch again on Tuesday 30th May after the Bank Holiday.

As always, we will try and get through the backlog as quickly as we can and thank you for your patience when you wait a bit longer for your orders at this time of year.

Chelsea, for us, is addictive. We love the challenge of a medal and take pride in showing our range of aquatic plants to the public in the best way we can.

If you are visiting the Show – we are in the Grand Pavilion and our number is 156 (on the farthest side from the big Show Gardens). Please come and say ‘Hello’.
