  • We select plants for you for a large wildlife 'field' pond of approx 15 - 22 sq m surface area (161-236 sq ft) surface area
  • 32 portions British Native submerged oxygenators, 37 shelf marginal plants (sent as 9 sets of 3 upright shelf plants and 10 rafting plants, ready potted) 3 waterlilies (ready potted). All plant choices depend on seasonal availability.

Plants chosen will include a mix of horizontally rafting and upright emergent growth plants to encourage breeding newts and emerging dragonflies. Good plants for pollinating bees, hoverflies and butterflies will be included too. (See Planting a wildlife pond page).

We would recommend the additional purchase of 9 contour baskets one for each of the 9 sets of 3 upright shelf plant types. Put each standard size basket of a plant type together in a contour with added gravel (not supplied) for stability and the effect of an instant, large clump.

We recommend the additional purchase of 3 Aponogeton distachyos if it is seasonally available to add to the flowering interest period in your pond.

The plants will come wrapped individually in their standard size mesh baskets and will need to be placed in the pond at the correct depths for each different species so that each area of the pond is creating a habitat for a different wildlife group.

April 2015

I asked to be reminded when my plant was available, and you did not forget to remind me - so I included another plant in my order as well , and both arrived in excellent condition and already look happy in the pond. I shall no doubt be ordering from you again in the future.
