  • We select plants for you to start up a small wildlife pond area of 1-2 m sq (9 - 20 sq ft)
  • 2 portions British Native submerged oxygenators, 7 shelf plants (sent as 4 upright shelf plants and 3 rafting plants, ready potted) All plant choices depend on seasonal availability.

Plants chosen will include a mix of horizontally rafting and upright emergent growth plants to encourage breeding newts and emerging dragonflies. Good plants for pollinating bees, hoverflies and butterflies will be included too. (See Planting a wildlife pond page).

This scheme does not include a waterlily but we would recommend you add one from the waterlily pages to suit the size and scale of your pond.

The plants will come wrapped individually in their mesh baskets and will need to be placed in the pond at the correct depths for each different species so that each area begins to create a habitat for a different wildlife group.

April 2014

Essentially this is a good site, the plants were delivered quickly and the problem with delivery resolved efficiently and with courtesy. However many (50% +)of the plants came without a label and I did not e a list of what had been delivered. It is early in the season and trying to work out is what is not easy, unless you are a botanical genius. Also, I bought a planting scheme but received no indication of how these might be arranged and what can be potted with what. Sure I can go to the site but I have to check each plant individually. So come on guys up your game - as far as us novices are concerned, more information... a lot more and suggestions about planting. But as I said a cracking site that need a bit more follow through.
