Linda from Waterside Nursery and Nicki Chapman chatted about how to plant a container pond.
We talked on BBC TV for the Chelsea 2012 programmes about the benefits of installing a container pond in a small garden. Focussing on encouraging wildlife into the garden & growing a wider variety of plants.
We planted one of the container ponds for a sunny position with waterlilies and Iris. Another with foliage interest plants for a more shaded position.
Our Weeping Red 60cm container pond planted for shade was a real hit! We showed how our Container Support ring keeps the shelf pond plants at the correct depth of water. We also added the British Native oxygenating plants Myriophyllum spicatum to the deeper water.
The orange container we planted during the interview had a support ring too and yellow flowering Caltha palustris, spiky Isolepis cernua and the rafting growth of Houttuynia cordata Chameleon. There was a portion of Ceratophyllum demersum oxygenating plant under the water surface.
We planted a recycled tin bath for a sunny position with some Perry's Baby Red dwarf waterlilies along with a British Native oxygenating pond plant to keep the water clear and fresh.
